You’re sh!ttin’ me.”

Max Von Sydow

Most recognized for: Among over 100 film & TV appearances, he played Father Merrin in “The Exorcist,” Brewmaster Smith in “Strange Brew,” and Ming the Merciless in “Flash Gordon”… but is best known as the Knight who plays chess against Death in Ingmar Bergen’s classic “The Seventh Seal.” He was the first to play both Jesus (“The Greatest Story Ever Told”) and Satan (“Needful Things”) in major studio films… but now, he mostly just plays dead.
