Most recognized for: After gaining legendary status as a NY Met, he was part of a trade dubbed “The Midnight Massacre” which landed him in a Reds uniform. The 3x Cy Young Award winner was a hit in Cincinnati, where “Tom Terrific” threw his first no-hitter in 1978. Many years later, when a certain Patriots QB attempted to trademark the nickname, the US Patent office denied him… on the grounds that it would be confused with Mr. Seaver.
