Not Singing the Blues

“Please lord. Not yet.
Can’t you take that
fat sonofabitch
Lasorda first?”

Whitey Ford
MLB Pitcher, Hall of Famer, cheater.
October 21, 1928 – October 8, 2020.
Aged 91 years.

Most recognized for: A 10 time All-Star, 2 time Cy young Award winner and 6 time World Series champ, this Yankee liked him some dirty balls. Mud balls, spit balls, scuffed balls, gouged balls… he admittedly used them all and seldom got caught. Nicknamed “The Chairman of the Board,” he owned the mound in the Yankees Golden Era and still holds the all-time wins record for the franchise. Although dementia had set in years ago, 2020 just hasn’t been kind to old MLB pitchers.
