Most recognized for: A legend in his own time, he was voted FIFA’s “Player of the [20th] Century.” But like many who achieved global celebrity status in the 1980’s, his seemingly boundless talent was eclipsed by his taste for excess. Oceans of booze and mountains of cocaine left the Argentinian sports deity looking and feeling less than golden. After over a decade of random hospitalizations, a heart attack was what dealt him his final red card.
