Mort Walker –
Cartoonist, author, army guy.
September 3, 1923 – January 27, 2018.
Aged 94 years.

Most recognized for: Mort kept an eye on the krauts as overlord of German soldier POW camps in WWII… before returning home to pursue his love of doodling. His comic strips “Beetle Bailey” & “Hi and Lois” were distributed to 1800 newspapers in over 50 countries with an estimated viewership of 200 million daily. Mr. Walker also penned “The Lexicon of Comicana,” a book that created a specific visual language widely used by cartoonists and other nerds.
