Oscar Gamble
MLB’er, afro enthusiast, boogie man.
December 20, 1949 – January 31, 2018.
Aged 68 years.

Most recognized for: Oscar’s 1976 baseball card photo proved to the world that it is possible to have an afro 24 inches in diameter & still rock a ball cap. Dubbed “The Big O” by Phil Rizzuto, his left handed power stroke wreaked havok on short right field fences.  Mr. Gamble’s scholarly wit was also a sportswriter’s wet dream, as he regularly offered up immortal nuggets of wisdom such as “They don’t think it be like it is, but it do.” Sheer poetry.
